William Barr won’t recuse himself from Mueller-related cases

William Barr

Attorney General William Barr said he would not recuse himself from any of the 14 cases special counsel Robert Mueller referred to other federal jurisdictions, including the Southern District of New York, and doesn’t recall having any “substantive” conversations with the White House about the investigations.

Sen. Richard Blumenthal, a Democrat, quizzed him if he had any conversations with the White House or President Trump about the probes.

“I don’t recall any substantive conversations,” Barr told Blumenthal during the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Wednesday.

“Wouldn’t you recall” if you have information about those cases, Blumenthal pressed.

“I just don’t recall offering any substantive information about a case,” the attorney general said, adding that he couldn’t rule out that one of the probes came up in conversations.

“Will you recuse yourself from the investigation?” Blumenthal of Connecticut asked.

“No,” Barr responded bluntly.
